Frank Lampard responded to criticism about his performances for England in the last two matches with a solid display against Slovenia yesterday. The Chelsea standout claims the reason for the Three Lions’ improvement was because they came out with the same level that they do when playing in the Premier League.

"We play that way for our clubs,” the talented midfielder explained on the league’s official website. “That is why people regard the Premier League as one of the best and fear it when we play at our best. If we play with those qualities, then we have got a great chance."

England next play Germany in the knockout stages, which after Franz Beckenbauer’s remarks earlier in the tournament, should prove to be a highly entertaining and tense match.
