Greek football has entered a new era with the exit of Otto Rehhagel and the appointment of Fernando Santos as national team boss. The Portuguese coach is highly respected in the Greek game and led PAOK Salonika to a Champions League spot this season, ahead of traditional heavyweights AEK Athens and Olympiacos.

Santos has also enjoyed spells coaching Panathinaikos and AEK Athens in the country.

The 55-year-old coach will be officially presented to the press later today, but hopes are high that Santos can continue the excellent work done by Rehhagel which included winning Euro 2004 against all the odds.
