Barcelona have appointed legendary goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta as their new vice president and technical director, in direct succession to Txiki Begiristain. This means Zubizarreta will be key in any moves the Spanish champions make in the transfer market this season and will have vast influence within the corridors of power at the Camp Nou.

Zubizarreta turned out for Barcelona between 1986 and 1994 and was part of the side which won the 1992 European Cup. He also amassed a huge 126 caps for Spain and is considered as one of the best goalkeepers the country has ever produced.

New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is moving quickly to appoint a competent administration to guide the La Liga winners forward.
