Holland coach Bert van Marwijk has hailed the country’s progression to the World Cup final as "special" and is already dreaming of meeting Germany in Johannesburg.

Having scraped past Uruguay 3-2 last night, Van Marwijk praised his side and said: "This is very special. After 32 years we play in the final again. Such a small country can be so very proud."

The Dutch coach then cast his mind back to the country’s meeting with West Germany in 1974, a game Van Marwijk believes they should have won. The Oranje boss said that on that occasion Holland played "a wonderful match" that they "should have won". While revenge is not a word Van Marwijk will utter, it will undoubtedly be on the lips of many a Dutchman.
