The main transfer saga of the French summer is continuing with Lyon’s special advisor Bernard Lacombe telling France Football that Yoann Gourcuff wants to move to the club from Bordeaux.

The midfielder has emerged as Lyon’s main target of this window and the deposed Ligue 1 champions are believed to be willing to pay €20M to take the France international from Bordeaux.

"I know [Gourcuff wants to come]" said Lacombe. "He does not say it to me directly, but it was reported to me."

While Bordeaux would resist the sale of one of their star players, the feeling within France is that they might be willing to consent to a big money move as they themselves need cash to buy a replacement for the departed Marouane Chamakh.
