Algeria star Nadir Belhadj has surprisingly turned down a move to Serie A giants Lazio and opted instead to head to play his football in Qatar.

The 27-year-old, who was widely expected to leave Portsmouth following their relegation from the Premier League, has penned a three-year deal with Al Saad.

The exact amount that the Middle Eastern side have paid for the World Cup star has not been disclosed, but that Belhadj opted for a move outside Europe is sure to raise a few eyebrows.
