Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas was overcome with emotion as the country won the World Cup last night, with the Real Madrid stalwart breaking into tears the moment victory was confirmed. Casillas believes that the full scale of what La Furia Roja have acheived with winning the World Cup has not sunk in yet.

"It’s a historic moment for Spanish football. This achievement is something that we, the players, are still not aware of [in terms of] what the significance is."

Casillas continued: "I think it’s something we will only realise over time."

As the first side from their country to win the World Cup, Casilas and the entire 23-man party can look forward to becoming legends in their own lifetime and will surely have their places confirmed in Spanish football history.
