Liverpool are interested in Ivory Coast World Cup star Gervinho according to reports coming from France. The 23-year-old, who currently plays his club football with Lille, has been tipped as one to watch and can play on the wing or up front.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have been in touch with representatives of Gervinho, to sound them out on the possibility of the player moving to Merseyside. Currently away on holiday, Gervinho has made no decision over his future, while at the same time being aware that many European clubs are tracking him.

The Anfield club would have to pay a fee of between €12-15M to snap up the Ivory Coast youngster, and French sources believe Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has turned to Gervinho because he was priced out of a move for Aston Villa’s Ashley Young. Gervinho only arrived at Lille last season and the Ligue 1 club will not allow him to leave on the cheap.
