Real Madrid have all but ruled out a move for Liverpool star Steven Gerrard according to super agent Ernesto Bronzetti. The Italian told TV channel Rai that president Florentino Perez has vetoed coach Jose Mourinho’s wish to bring Gerrard to the Bernabeu, believing the England midfielder to represent poor value for money.

"He [Gerrard] is 30 years old and the president does not want to hear about [a transfer]. In addition, Liverpool requested €70M."

Perez’s opposition to moving for Gerrard will no doubt be a blow to Mourinho, who has tracked the midfielder since his time at Chelsea, certain that he would one day be able to add him to his starting eleven. The Real Madrid president however, in a change of direction from big name buys whatever the cost, prefers younger options.
