Liverpool could be set to sell French midfielder Damien Plessis. The 22-year-old, who has struggled to take the step from promising youngster to first team player, is being tracked by Portuguese giants Benfica.

According to France Football, Plessis is ready to leave Anfield in search of more playing time and greater opportunities. Benfica at first sounded Liverpool out about a season-long loan for the midfielder, but the cash-strapped Merseyside club are keen to sell Plessis. The Frenchman would cost Benfica around €700,000.

Should a move to Portugal fall through then Plessis is ready to head back to France as he looks to exit Anfield.
