In an effort to convince Diego Maradona to remain as the coach of Argentina, the Argentine FA have offered the former World Cup winner a new four-year deal. The move would see Maradona remain as coach right through to the next World Cup due to be staged in Brazil in 2014.
Maradona, who led Argentina to the quarter-finals of the World Cup before seeing his side thrashed 4-0 by Germany, has remained unsure, in public at least, over whether or not he wanted to continue in his post. For Argentina a quick decision is needed as the side begin to prepare for next year’s Copa America tournament.
Despite the embarrassing loss to Germany, Maradona was still judged to have done very well in the early stages of the tournament in South Africa.
