Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has declared the number 1 goalkeeping position still up for grabs in a move that will do little to dampen speculation he is set to make a big money buy.

Speaking after The Gunners defeated Barnet in a pre-season friendly, Wenger confirmed he was still looking for another goalkeeper.

"We are still active in the transfer market."
Wenger told the club’s official website.

"At the moment, in pre-season, there is no No.1 – you have to give a chance to everyone to show how good he is, you cannot decide that today."

Wenger’s comments add strength to reports from Italy that the Frenchman is chasing Udinese keeper Samir Handanovic. The Slovenia keeper apparently impressed Wenger at the World Cup.
