Liverpool have revisited their interest in young Rangers defender Danny Wilson and agreed a fee with the Scottish giants for his transfer. Wilson, who was just starting to make the breakthrough into the Ibrox first team, will cost the Anfield club £2M initially, with a further £3M to come depending on his appearances and success on Merseyside.

The 18-year-old was apparently ready to leave Rangers and was extremely flattered when he heard of Liverpool’s interest some months ago. The Premier League side had been tracking Wilson under previous manager Rafael Benitez, but there were rumours that the Spaniard was denied the money to buy the defender – money that has now been granted to his successor Roy Hodgson.

Wilson is an exciting prospect and has even been likened to a young Alan Hansen by members of the Rangers support. To lose such a promising talent will no doubt be a big blow to the Ibrox side.
