France defender William Gallas has turned down the opportunity to join countrymen Sidney Govou and Djibril Cisse at Panathinaikos. According to L’Equipe, Gallas has rejected what was a lucrative offer from the Greek side and will continue to consider his options.

The Greek champions are now expected to turn their attention to Jean-Alain Boumsong, as Gallas himself prepares to receive a new series of proposals.

Chasing Gallas are believed to be Paris Saint-Germain, although the French club know the 32-year-old would have to lower his salary expectations for them to be able to take him to the Parc des Princes.

Also in the running are Scottish giants Celtic, who are in action in the Champions League this week. Should Celtic make progress in the competition and appear set for the group stages, the Parkhead club would become an attractive proposition for Gallas.
