Rennes right back Rod Fanni has snubbed interest from Sunderland and West Ham in favour of a move to Atletico Madrid according to reports from France.

The 28-year-old, who has four senior France caps to his name, had been attracting interest from the two Premier League clubs, as well as the Europa League holders.

L’Equipe report that Atletico Madrid have agreed a fee of around €5M for Fanni’s services with Rennes, while the player has given the green light to a three-year contract worth €1.4M per year.

Fanni will hope that the move will put him in the spotlight and help him to dislodge Bacary Sagna as France’s first choice right back.
