Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is "still looking" for reinforcements in this transfer window. The Gunners recently lost out in the chase to re-sign veteran defender Sol Campbell to Newcastle and Wenger has also seen William Gallas leave the Emirates.

"We are always looking" said Wenger to the club’s official site. "We currently have currently have three defenders and you can see last season we had five.

"I think we need at least four [central defenders] because other players can play in that position."

However, for Arsenal fans hoping for a hint of who the Frenchman will move for, Wenger said he could "not give you a name".

Arsenal have signed a defensive reinforcement in the shape of Laurent Koscielny from Ligue 1 side Lorient, although the 24-year-old’s early performances in pre-season action have left many wondering how long it will take for him to adapt to the English game.
