Scottish side Rangers are giving a trial to Honduras striker Georgie Welcome, but are in the unusual position of not being able to play him in any of their pre-season warm-up matches.

Welcome, who featured in all three of his country’s World Cup games, does not have a work permit and so cannot represent Rangers. Assistant manager Ally McCoist though has vowed not to let that be a problem and to look closely at the striker in training.

Rangers are in desperate need of reinforcements before they begin the defence of their Scottish Premier League title and McCoist, who watched Welcome at the World Cup, believes the forward could prove a welcome addition.
