Reports in Spain suggest that AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi remains interested in Barcelona striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Catalan daily Sport report that the two may have shared a phone call, but a deal is still some way off.

Ibrahimovic has been interesting Milan for much of the summer, but the situation has changed little, with the Italians unable to meet Barcelona’s asking price for the Swede and also unable to contemplate paying his wages.

While Ibrahimovic is clearly available at the Camp Nou following the arrival of David Villa from Valencia, his huge pay-packet of €12M per year means there are very few clubs who can afford him. The striker had garnered some interest from Manchester City earlier in the summer, but let it be known he did not fancy the move.

It remains to be seen what Berlusconi could do to make a deal between the parties possible.
