Lazio have completed the signing of highly rated Brazilian midfielder Hernanes from Sao Paulo.
The deal has been rumoured to be in the offing for some time, but Sao Paulo only wanted to announce the move upon their elimination from the Copa Libertadores; this week they lost out to Internacional on away goals.
25-year-old Hernanes has cost the Serie A side a substantial €13.5M and inked a five-year contract with the Rome club. Lazio will count themselves lucky to have secured his services ahead of other interested sides such as Barcelona, Villarreal and AC Milan.
Also at Sao Paulo, the fallout from their Copa Libertadores exit continues, with coach Ricardo Gomes sacked from his position.
