Marseille are moving close to realising coach Didier Deschamps’ dream of snapping up Luis Fabiano from Sevilla. While it was at first believed that the striker’s salary would make a move to the Stade Velodrome prohibitive, it seems that the sale of Mamadou Niang to Fenerbahce for between €8-10M, could well make the Brazilian affordable.

French sports daily L’Equipe report that negotiations between Sevilla and Marseille are ongoing, but the French are confident of getting their man. Luis Fabiano has made encouraging noises about a move to the French champions, especially if they put a contract worth €4M per year in front of him.

Deschamps would be disappointed to lose Niang in order to get Luis Fabiano and was dreaming of linking the pair up together in attack to create a strikeforce all Ligue 1 would fear.
