AC Milan have apparently been impressed with the hunger and enthusiasm of Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar following his return to the club after the World Cup. Huntelaar had been expected to be shipped out of Milan this summer, as he was widely judged to have made only a limited impact in Serie A.

However, the Italians may well think again now as Huntelaar has applied himself in training and looked impressive.

Milan have been linked with a late move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and should that go through then not even a hungry attitude could save Huntelaar. The figures involved though still make the move unlikely and the former Real Madrid forward is ready and waiting to take his chance.

Speaking about his return to training and then appearance in the TIM Cup, Huntelaar remarked: "For me it has been a tough week, but I want to be ready for the start of the championship."
