Marseille have reportedly contacted Loic Remy’s agent to check on the state of play regarding the Nice forward.

The Ligue 1 champions had felt themselves priced out of a move for the young French striker, but the sale of Mamadou Niang followed by a probably sale of Hatem Ben Arfa – rather than a loan deal as was first mooted – could give them the funds to make a bid.

Remy has still not had his future decided despite interest from Liverpool, Rennes and Bordeaux and offers from Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Stoke City. Lyon are also watching developments closely.

The striker’s agent admitted that he had been contacted by Marseille, who are now searching for two attacking additions.

"OM contacted me, that’s true" Frederic Guerra told radio station RMC. "I do not want to say more in order to work calmy, but I will say I am working hard tonight."
