Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has told his players to move on quickly from their 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City on Monday night. The Reds were simply outgunned by a side that has spend well over £100M improving their squad over the summer; Liverpool by comparison have spent peanuts.

"Defeats are something that come along the way", Hodgson told the club’s website, "but it’s very important to get on with things quickly and don’t allow them to poison what’s after.

"We’ve got to make certain it doesn’t affect us on Sunday in particular against West Bromwich Albion, when we really do need a win to kickstart our season."

Before then Hodgson must take his Liverpool side to Turkey to face Trabzonspor with just a 1-0 lead. The Reds need to get in the winning habit quickly and crashing out of the Europa League to the Black Sea Storm would put a big dent in the former Fulham boss’s season before it has truly begun.
