Bayern Munich have suffered a blow with the news that Arjen Robben could be out for up to five months through injury. Robben was rushed back into action by Holland at the World Cup and there is a feeling that this was too soon for the winger as his injury became worse.

The Allianz Arena giants now fear that Robben may not play in the first half of the Bundesliga season and Bayern Munich had hoped a period of rest at home in Holland would do the trick. However, upon Robben’s return to Munich, club doctors found that he still had fluid in his affected muscle and club sporting director Christian Nerlinger has described the healing process at "not satisfactory".

Bayern now hope to gain compensation from the Dutch FA for Robben’s absence and may already be feeling its effects after losing 2-0 Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga on Friday night.
