New Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has revealed that he had plenty of offers to choose from, but feels he has made the right choice by signing for the Portuguese giants.

Hildebrand, who was released by Bundesliga side Hoffenheim in the summer, has inked a one-year deal with the Lisbon club and could well agree to stay longer should everything work out.

The keeper said key to his decision was the fact that "Sporting always fight for the title" and not to read anything in to the short-term deal he has signed because he "will see how things go".

Hildebrand is the first German to play for Sporting Lisbon and also said that he is confident of performing well, but at the end of the day, whether or not he can claim the number 1 jersey "is up to the coach".
