Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has given an indication of just how highly he values youngster Bebe by including the striker in the club’s 25-man Champions League squad.

Bebe only arrived at Old Trafford in the summer following a whirlwind few months which saw him first snapped up by Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, then chased by Real Madrid, only for Ferguson to offer Vitoria an instant profit on the youngster. Man Utd paid £7M for the 20-year-old’s services.

It has also emerged recently that Dutch side PSV Eindhoven were offered Bebe’s services for free earlier in the year, yet chose to decline, as they had no dossier on the player.

Bebe could yet prove to be Ferguson’s joker in the pack as he looks to try and win the Champions League for the third time.
