Following the country’s 1-0 home defeat to Montenegro last night, Bulgarian coach Stanimir Stoilov has decided to quit with immediate effect.

Stoilov had seen the importance of the Montenegro game grow after Bulgaria were demolished 4-0 by England in their first qualification game for Euro 2012, making defeat, especially at home, a bitter pill to swallow.

The coach had been asked by state TV after the game about his future and said that he would "be the biggest fan of the national team as well as the new coach."

Bulgaria are currently going through something of a slump at international level and the retirement of Dimitar Berbatov, for so often their key man, did not help.
