Real Madrid have been handed a boost with the news that Cristiano Ronaldo could be fit to make his comeback against Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Portuguese star had been suffering from an ankle injury picked up against Mallorca on the first La Liga matchday, and had been estimated to be out for three weeks at least.

"I feel better", said Ronaldo, "we will see the evolution [of the injury].

"I’m almost 100% and I want to return as soon as possible."

The Portuguese star could resume full training in the next couple of days and his comeback will give Los Blancos a big boost. The week’s La Liga meeting with Osasuna will though come too soon for Ronaldo to be involved but does "expect to be ready for the match against Ajax."
