Napoli director Riccardo Bigon has denied reports that Bayern Munich attempted to negotiate for Ezequiel Lavezzi as the two clubs were doing a deal for Jose Ernesto Sosa.

The German giants were widely reported as trying to buy Argentine forward Lavezzi from Napoli during the summer transfer window, but Bigon denied the stories.

"Dealing with Bayern for Sosa was relatively easy. Bayern is an important club and things were relatively straightforward. The Germans never asked for Lavezzi though."

Bigon also denied that the arrival of Sosa pointed to the exit of Marek Hamsik soon. "With the acquisition of Sosa it’s not true that Hamsik could be sold."
