Bayern Munich have begun to track Napoli’s impressive attacking midfielder Marek Hamsik as they push ahead with their plans to strengthen the squad in January. While Napoli would no doubt fight hard to keep hold of the Slovakian, Bayern feel that the player himself may not be able to resist the move.

The Germans giants are well aware of interest from Real Madrid in Bastian Schweinsteiger and are thought to privately accept that they would struggle to hold onto the midfielder should Jose Mourinho present them with a serious bid next summer. Therefore, the arrival of Hamsik in January would counteract Schweinsteiger’s loss and allow the Slovak time to adapt to the Allianz Arena.

Any sign from Napoli that they would be willing to sell Hamsik though would also bring both Chelsea and Inter into the race, a fact Bayern must also be aware of.
