On the eve of the Champions League, Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has said he would have had a better chance of winning the trophy had he stayed at Inter, but also commented that he sees this year’s competition as very open.

Mourinho is bidding to bring Los Blancos’ 10th European Cup back to the Bernabeu and finds himself in a group with AC Milan, Ajax and Auxerre.

"I think to stay at Inter it would have been easier to win new trophies, the team was made", Mourinho told France Football before going on to say the move to Spain was about the challenge.

"I love challenges. I have won titles in Portugal with Porto, in the Premier League with Chelsea, in Italy Inter, and now I want to do it in La Liga for Real Madrid. It is a personal challenge."

The Portuguese also said that this season’s Champions League is a wide open affair.

"I believe that this edition will be very open, with six or seven clubs that can win the title. On this list there is, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Milan, Inter and Bayern."
