Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch said that the club’s midweek draw away at Werder Bremen has proven that they can match any side in the competition. Spurs did have a two-goal lead in Germany, but saw Werder peg that back and the game end 2-2. Crouch is not discouraged though.

"We have to take the positives", said the former Liverpool forward to the club’s official site. "It was our first taste of the Champions League group stages and I thought we performed very well. We showed we can match anyone on our day."

Spurs must now quickly turn their attention to the Premier League and a clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend. After that, they renew the battle with eternal enemy Arsenal in the League Cup.
