Samuel Eto’o has been defending his spell at Barcelona and stated that he not only helped the club to win everything, but his team-mates appreciated this and did not want coach Josep Guardiola to sell him.

Now at Inter, Eto’o is keen to set the record straight about his time at the Camp Nou and ensure he receives the credit he feels he is due.

"When Ronaldinho arrived in Barcelona, [they] did not win anything. After my arrival we won it all", said the Cameroon forward to Catalan daily Sport

Eto’o also denied there had been any problems in the dressing room – he was often accused of being a disruptive influence – and said he had a great relationship with his team-mates. So much so, that Lionel Messi did not want him to leave.

"When Guardiola wanted me out, Messi went to him and said ‘let go who you want, but not Samuel’", before adding, "All my coaches will tell you that I am a great professional."
