Ajax have been reassured by goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg that he will not jump ship to Arsenal or Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old has been attracting attention from the Premier League duo, but has signalled his intention to see out at least this season with the Eredivisie side.

Stekelenburg has improved rapidly over the last 18 months and was a key player in Holland’s run to the World Cup final in the summer. And while the keeper has assured Ajax of his intention to remain until at least June, it is unlikely he will begin the 2011/12 campaign in Amsterdam.

As for Stekelenburg’s preferred destination, it is believed to be Old Trafford to follow in the footsteps of Edwin van der Sar.
