Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has blasted the Anfield club’s board for not knowing their football. Benitez was forced out of the Premier League club this summer and replaced by ex-Finland coach Roy Hodgson, who has so far led the club to just five points from their first five league games.

Benitez was speaking about his good relationship with Inter president Massimo Moratti who, according to the Spaniard, knows his football, unlike the occupants of the Anfield boardroom.

"My relationship with the president is really good. As I’ve said before, he’s a man who knows his football. You know if the team does not do well, he will be angry", said Benitez, "but at least he is someone with whom it is possible to talk about football and this, in the last year I was at Liverpool, did not happen."

The Spaniard’s comments are sure to worry the Liverpool faithful who are not just growing increasingly concerned about the failure to conclude a sale of the club, but also displays on the pitch under new boss Hodgson.
