Wesley Sneijder has been linked with a shock return to Real Madrid. The Dutchman, who was a key figure in Inter’s sensational treble winning campaign last season, has yet to sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri, despite such an agreement being mooted and Sneijder being in line for a lucrative extension.

"There is no financial agreement with Inter [for a contract extension]", Sneijder’s agent told Dutch paper De Telegraaf. "we will resume negotiations as it should help."

When asked about talk of a move to Real Madrid, with his client having played so well under Jose Mourinho in the past, the Dutchman’s agent commented that, although Sneijder was happy in Milan and with Massimo Moratti, things at the Bernebau have now changed.

"Wesley did not leave Real Madrid in the best conditions, but now Mourinho is there and everything’s different. Mourinho has considered a possible return to Madrid."
