Saint-Etienne’s fine start to the new Ligue 1 season has put their players very much in the shop window and one such star is midfielder Bakary Sako. The 22-year-old has drawn the attention of Serie A giants Juventus and it already seems the French side may struggle to keep hold of him.

Sako, who can play up front as well as in midfield when required, has been a key part of a campaign which sees Saint-Etienne sitting on top of the Ligue 1 table after seven games. Les Verts also scored a famous 1-0 win away to arch-rivals Lyon yesterday, sending out a message that their fine start shows no sign of stopping.

Juventus would be expected to pay quite a fee to persuade Saint-Etienne to part with Sako. The player has huge potential and should his development continue, is soon expected to make the breakthrough to the senior France side, having already won 10 caps for the Under-21 team. A figure of some €8M has been mooted as being the amount the Italians would need to splash out.
