Inter boss Rafael Benitez bemoaned a failure to take chances as being behind his side’s 1-0 defeat away to Roma last night. The Nerazzurri appeared to be playing a Roma side low on confidence before the game and were confident of victory but, having failed to take any of their chances on the night, were punished in injury time by a Mirko Vucinic goal.
"The problem was not the goal at the end", explained Benitez as he pinpointed the real reason for the loss, "but we had many shots and we did not score. We had many situations in which we could have scored."
Benitez felt that his side could have taken some of the chances they created, especially on the counter attack, and when they did not, they were always vulnerable to a sucker punch from Claudio Ranieri’s side. The former Liverpool coach though dismissed suggestions that he might change the way Inter play because of the loss.
"Should I change anything after this match? No, we do more or less the same as we do now. We have to analyse why we have not scored, because sometimes we were a bit weak in defence."
