Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola reflected on last night’s Champions League draw at Rubin Kazan and stated: "We did everything we could to win."

The Spanish giants were held to a 1-1 draw away in Russia and needed a second half penalty, converted by David Villa, to cancel out Rubin Kazan’s own effort from the spot in the first half. Barcelona had chances towards the end of the game and Lionel Messi was even thrown into the fray, but the Russians stood firm.

"We have done everything possible to try and win", said Guardiola. "A rival like this is never easy to attack, but we created chances and do not have anything to reproach ourselves for."

The Catalan boss said that the strength of sides like Rubin Kazan shows just why the Champions League is strong and always a tough competition to play in, adding he expected to go "until the end to qualify."
