Arsene Wenger has praised his Arsenal team for their performance against Chelsea yesterday, despite losing the game 2-0. The Frenchman also warned though that his side cannot lose games against title rivals and still expect to end up with silverware.

"We must be more effective to win championships. We cannot afford to lose a match like that," said Wenger, before saying he felt sorry for his side which had put so much effort into the game.

"I’m sorry for my team because their attitude and performance was superb. I’m sorry that we were not rewarded. We live in a world of reality and if we do not seize its opportunities we cannot we matches."

Arsenal must now wait until after the international break to try and bounce back when they face Birmingham at the Emirates on 16th October.
