Chelsea and Ghana star Michael Essien has denied rumours that he has quit the Black Stars. The midfielder was not included in the Ghana squad to face Swaziland, but Essien has explained that this does not mean he has left international football.

"My failure to be in that squad was the result of a prior agreement with former coach Milovan Rajevac," explained the Chelsea star. He also went on to say that he had suggested to Rajevac that he should get back on track, building his fitness, with his Premier League side before joining up with Ghana once again.

Ghana are currently without a coach after Rajevac quit his post to take up a new job in Saudi Arabia. A number of big names including Marcel Desailly, Gianfranco Zola and even Luiz Felipe Scolari, have been linked with the post.
