Hercules look set to be without the services of Royston Drenthe when they meet Real Madrid on 31st October in La Liga. The newly promoted side took Drenthe from the Bernabeu in the summer, after the Dutchman was declared surplus to requirements by coach Jose Mourinho.

Drenthe would understandably be keen to show Los Blancos just what they are missing but, as Marca report the inclusion of a special clause in the deal, he may not get the chance to.

While the clause Real Madrid inserted does not forbid Drenthe from playing against them, it does demand an extra payment of $2M should Hercules field the Dutchman against Los Blancos. With such a high penalty for playing the former Real Madrid man, it seems unlikely Hercules will choose to.
