Pavel Nedved will end months of rumours by officially being appointed to the Juventus board of directors in late October. The Czech Republic star is a legend at the Old Lady and, since retiring from the game at the end of the 2008/09 season, has long been linked with a return to the club for whom he played for eight years.

Nedved will not only be appointed to the board of directors at Juventus, but also, according to reports, of Exor, the company which owns 60% of the Turin club. The Czech’s role will be to act as a bridge between the board and the team, in effect, a team manager. It will be a role similar to that which Oliver Bierhoff played for the German national side.

The return of Nedved will no doubt be welcomed by the Old Lady faithful, the only question being asked on the streets of Turin is why it took so long.
