Everton boss David Moyes believes his side have played better in quite a few games this season than they played to get the win over Liverpool yesterday, but nonetheless was delighted to win what was billed as a crucial match.

"We’ve probably played a lot better in a number of games", Moyes told the club’s official site, "but this was a different type of match. It was a tough derby, we had to be committed and patient and it was a thoroughly deserved three points."

The win lifts Everton up into mid-table in the Premier League and will go some way towards easing the pressure which had been building around Goodison Park of late. The Toffees will now head to White Hart Lane for what looks an equally tough clash against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend, before Stoke City are the visitors to Merseyside.
