AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has blamed technical errors for his side’s 2-0 Champions League defeat at Real Madrid last night, stating that he and his players had hoped to produce a different performance.

Two goals for Real Madrid through Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Oezil did for the Italians at the Bernabeu and Allegri’s side never looked like taking three points, or even one, away from the Spanish capital.

"I am a little sad for the players because we wanted to produce another game"
, explained Allegri. "We managed to compete effectively in some areas and we had chances, but not enough. We needed another performance."

The Milan boss then went on to blame technical errors and stating these could not be made against a side of Real Madrid’s quality.

"We made too many technical errors in the first quarter of an hour. If you do not play well technically, you are giving the advantage to your adversary."
