Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has made an effort to shrug off the view that he is a lazy player, stating that his job is to score goals, not run all over the place.

Rumours have been rife in the Spanish capital that coach Jose Mourinho has not been too taken with the former Lyon player and may soon look to ship him out. Indeed, Benzema admitted, "Mourinho told me I have to run."

The Frenchman also told Ball Point, "I am not a player who runs all over the place, my job is to score goals. I came to score goals, but if I have to run, I will run."

Benzema is also hoping for more minutes on the pitch at the Bernabeu, to prove his worth to the Real Madrid faithful and appears determined to make the grade at Los Blancos.

"When I play more, you’ll see I’m worth [a place in the side]."
