Emmanuel Adebayor bagged a hat-trick for Manchester City in the Europa League last night as they saw off the challenge of Polish side Lech Poznan at Eastlands. The former Arsenal striker scored all three of City’s goals in the 3-1 win and has now applied pressure to coach Roberto Mancini to be involved at the weekend, when Arsene Wenger’s men visit Manchester.

If Adebayor took to the pitch against Arsenal, it would be his third game in eight days, but Mancini told City’s official site that, because of the display he had produced, "it’s possible now."

The Italian also went on to praise the Togo hitman: "He’s scored a hat-trick and he has a very good chance of playing against Arsenal. He gave an excellent performance. It was very important for us and for him. A striker needs to score goals and he scored three, so I’m happy for him."

Adebayor is known to be desperate to have the opportunity to play against his former club, and it seems his Europa League display may have allowed him to do just that.
