Roy Hodgson believes that Liverpool just need a little bit of luck in order to start climbing the table. Hodgson thinks that Liverpool produced a good performance despite losing the Merseyside derby to Everton and was also delighted to claim a 0-0 draw away to Napoli in the Europa League without Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres. Now Liverpool face a tough task on Sunday with the visit of Blackburn Rovers.

"What I am hoping for is a little bit of luck so the result goes our way – whether we play well or we play badly – and that we give ourselves breathing space in order to start rebuilding and try to move up the table rather than constantly finding ourselves marooned at the wrong end", Hodgson told the club’s official site.

The former Fulham coach also believes that he made the right call in midweek by leaving Gerrard, Torres, Raul Meireles and Lucas behind for the trip to Italy.

"We’ve got to keep going. The good thing is that I’ve not prejudiced that game [Blackburn], by forcing players to play three matches in a week, which could quite easily have prejudiced the chances of finding the intensity I’m looking for."
