PSV Eindhoven are set to sell Ibrahim Afellay in January following an admission from the player that he feels the time is right to move abroad. The 24-year-old’s contract with the Dutch giants runs out at the end of the season and PSV are keen to realise at least some value from a player they have nurtured from their youth setup.

"It’s time to go and play abroad", said Afellay. "Here I am well and I have had a good time, but it’s time to try to big jump for the sake of my career. In any case, I give 100% to this shirt. I owe the fans that and they will remain forever in my heart. I decided to make things clear about my future as a matter of respect to them."

The talented Dutch international, who can operate on the wing or as an attacking midfielder, is expected to generate much interest in his signature. Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Afellay, while Inter are also reported to be keeping a close eye on the situation. However, it can safely be assumed there are far more than just those three clubs who smell something of a bargain with Afellay’s contract winding down.
