Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that summer signing Sebastien Squillaci could be a key man in the club’s meeting with Manchester City at Eastlands today.

The Frenchman was criticised by sections of the Arsenal support for not buying a top class centre back over the summer, to boost an area seen as lacking in depth, but Wenger did swoop for the 30-year-old Squillaci.

"He’s a leader", said Wenger. "He’s a quiet player, but he talks a lot during matches, especially to the midfielders and the defenders."

Squillaci faces arguably his biggest test yet in the form of the Man City strikeforce and The Gunners are expected to be under pressure from the off as Roberto Mancini’s side try to grab what would be a very important three points.
